Family Birthday Calendars now available at A2Z Scraplets

Hi everyone! I hope you are well. Thanks so much for all your well wishes for my dear little family. We have all recovered well and truly now thank God but getting back into rhythm and catching up on things like housework is always so hard so I am sure I should just leave it all and get creative yes? LOL

Today I wanted to quickly share with you all a new fun product available from A2Z Scraplets and it is an Off the Page item which is very exciting. I have always loved off the page projects and even love them more when they are useful things so of course I was super dooper excited about this Family Birthday calendar when Julie sent me one. Ok so I have been pinning these on Pinterest for years and thinking what an amazing idea they were so you never forget which family birthdays are in which month of the year but alas pinning doesn’t usually mean that I will actually create the project, it just goes to the back of my mind along with the millions of other pretty and useful ideas i get off Pinterest LOL. So of course for Julie from A2Z Scraplets to go and cut and create a complete kit ready for me to assemble and decorate then I knew this project dream could finally become a reality.

Ok so I love chalk boards and the current chalk board trends in the scrapbooking world get me so very excited but my darling husband who has tolerated me painting and spreading glitter everywhere for years, has banned chalk and playdo from our household after too many really bad messes that took way too much effort to clean up. You know that caked on chalk that seems to be cemented into your pathway and caked on so good it will be there forever? Yeah we had one of those occassions so let’s just say I am honouring my husband and not creating a chalkboard family birthdays calendar like I originally dreamed, buy instead a chalk board look Family Birthdays Calendar and isn’t it super fun?

I have used the fabulous Prima Marketing Optimist Collection and wow wow wow I love it so much. I have used 2 sheets of the measuring tape paper on the background (which is wood not chipboard) and after sanding back the edges, i have coated the paper with a layer of Gel Medium before adding wave patterns with my comb painter’s tool thingie (super technical terminology). While the background dried, I have painted 2 A2Z Scraplets Doodlets with various Ranger Liquid Pearls paints using a thin paint brush to add lots of amazing colour details and I have adhered these 1 on top of the other upside down ready for my Family Birthdays title to go over the top.

Next step was to decorate the Family Birthdays word and the circles. To do this I have simply sprayed them all with Heidi Swapp Black Color Shine Spray Mist and allowd to dry completely before inking the edges of the circles with Chalk Fluid Inks in Grey and adding some random edging to the words with 3 different shades of Ranger Liquid Pearls which were also used on the Doodlet. I then tried my best at writing some fun Chalk Board doodle writing with the names onto the circles before putting the calendar together.

The last addition was lots of beautiful Prima Marketing flowers and majority of them are from the Prima Optimist collection so of course coordinated perfectly but I have also added 2 large older Prima Marketing Fabric Flowers for some more fun texture and colour. Last thing that I did was added some Black Gesso to the edges of the petals of the flowers and allowed it all to dry completely.
