Family Birthday Calendars now available at A2Z Scraplets

Hi everyone! I hope you are well. Thanks so much for all your well wishes for my dear little family. We have all recovered well and truly now thank God but getting back into rhythm and catching up on things like housework is always so hard so I am sure I should just leave it all and get creative yes? LOL

Today I wanted to quickly share with you all a new fun product available from A2Z Scraplets and it is an Off the Page item which is very exciting. I have always loved off the page projects and even love them more when they are useful things so of course I was super dooper excited about this Family Birthday calendar when Julie sent me one. Ok so I have been pinning these on Pinterest for years and thinking what an amazing idea they were so you never forget which family birthdays are in which month of the year but alas pinning doesn’t usually mean that I will actually create the project, it just goes to the back of my mind along with the millions of other pretty and useful ideas i get off Pinterest LOL. So of course for Julie from A2Z Scraplets to go and cut and create a complete kit ready for me to assemble and decorate then I knew this project dream could finally become a reality.

Ok so I love chalk boards and the current chalk board trends in the scrapbooking world get me so very excited but my darling husband who has tolerated me painting and spreading glitter everywhere for years, has banned chalk and playdo from our household after too many really bad messes that took way too much effort to clean up. You know that caked on chalk that seems to be cemented into your pathway and caked on so good it will be there forever? Yeah we had one of those occassions so let’s just say I am honouring my husband and not creating a chalkboard family birthdays calendar like I originally dreamed, buy instead a chalk board look Family Birthdays Calendar and isn’t it super fun?

I have used the fabulous Prima Marketing Optimist Collection and wow wow wow I love it so much. I have used 2 sheets of the measuring tape paper on the background (which is wood not chipboard) and after sanding back the edges, i have coated the paper with a layer of Gel Medium before adding wave patterns with my comb painter’s tool thingie (super technical terminology). While the background dried, I have painted 2 A2Z Scraplets Doodlets with various Ranger Liquid Pearls paints using a thin paint brush to add lots of amazing colour details and I have adhered these 1 on top of the other upside down ready for my Family Birthdays title to go over the top.

Next step was to decorate the Family Birthdays word and the circles. To do this I have simply sprayed them all with Heidi Swapp Black Color Shine Spray Mist and allowd to dry completely before inking the edges of the circles with Chalk Fluid Inks in Grey and adding some random edging to the words with 3 different shades of Ranger Liquid Pearls which were also used on the Doodlet. I then tried my best at writing some fun Chalk Board doodle writing with the names onto the circles before putting the calendar together.

The last addition was lots of beautiful Prima Marketing flowers and majority of them are from the Prima Optimist collection so of course coordinated perfectly but I have also added 2 large older Prima Marketing Fabric Flowers for some more fun texture and colour. Last thing that I did was added some Black Gesso to the edges of the petals of the flowers and allowed it all to dry completely.

Products used for this project include…
A2Z Scraplets Family Birthdays Calendar
A2Z Scraplets Doodlet  25 x2
Heidi Swapp Color Shine Black Spray
Prima Marketing Optimist Collection papers & Flowers
Prima Marketing Flowers
Gel Medium

A2Z Scraplets September Blind Challenge – Believe to Achieve

Hi everyone! I am back today to share with you all my example layout for the A2Z Scraplets September Blind Challenge. Did you see it? Click here to visit the A2Z Scraplets blog post to find out how to enter. You have until midnight tonight so hurry!

What is a Blind Challenge I hear you say? Well a blind challenge is very simple. All participants are given the exact same set of basic instructions including measurements etc to create a scrapbook layout from and email to the Challenge Coordinator. How each person interprets the instructions is the truly amazing part, no 2 projects ever look the same and some vary so drastically which is so very exciting to see.

IMG_3974

All entries and examples have been left a secret until today, the last day of the month so no one could copy layouts etc. You can see some more inspiration from our Design Team on the A2Z Scraplets blog right here. We all had so much fun playing along with this and even I, the one who wrote the instructions, couldn’t keep to my own directions and have added and changed bits LOL. The whole point is to have fun and get inspiration in a new way.

IMG_3975

One of the very first instructions was to mask the background in 2 corners and add splatters. The instructions only mention one colour also but I was trying to go for the Chalkboard effect and wasn’t happy so needed to add some Colourful Splatters LOL. I have used the A2Z Scraplets Checkerplate Stencilet for it.

IMG_3976

The white masking and droplets were created using Dylusions White Ink Spray and I have then sprayed my A2Z Scraplets Believe to Achieve Title with the White Dylusions as well. When I was splattering my background with colour using some Heidi Swapp Color Shine, I have also splattered lots of tiny droplet of colour onto the A2Z Scraplets Chipboard title and I have then dooled around the edges using a black pen.

IMG_3977

The fabulous papers and stickers that I have used are from the Fancy Pants Wonderful Day Collection and I have added lots of doodling and random stitching for added interest around these. Another part that was not in the instructions was the photo matting that I have done with the Red Paper from Fancy Pants LOL I know I am so naughty, I can’t ever follow directions especially my own haha. How fun is that cork paper?

IMG_3978

My flowers were created using left over papers and I will have a video up in the next couple of days showing how I did these so stay tuned.

Things That Make Me Smile Always Start With You

Hi there everybody! I hope you are all well, I have a quick random just because layout to share with you all today using the fabulous Echo Park Here & Now Collection but the 6×6 size! Yep I had so much fun just layering the 6×6 patterned papers together for this one and it looks so fabulous and how fun are the miniature versions of the printed papers eeekkk.

tn_ThingsThatMakeMeSmileByAmyPrior

Ok so my title needs to be outlined with Silver I have decided after editing these photos but the title is an A2Z Scraplets Chipboard Title that I have simply covered in some Black Ranger Stickles and I have layered the title over some Heidi Swapp Color Magic Banners which have been sprayed with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Sprays. How fun are all the Heidi Swapp Color Magic stuff seriously I don’t think I will ever not love them they are so versatile and fun!

tn_ThingsThatMakeMeSmileByAmyPrior_Closeup1

My background was created using Dylusions Ink Sprays splattered and dripped and then I have finished off the background by inking the edges with Ranger Archival Ink and then added lots of random large circles with some Ranger Black Soot Tim Holtz Crackle Paint. To do this, you have to have the newer runnier versions of the Ranger Crackle Paint as the old versions were never runny and simply all I have done is used the lid paint brush that is included and dribbled circles over and over again and until I was happy. You could do this with regular acrylic paint easily also or ink but I wanted the cool Crackled effect.

tn_ThingsThatMakeMeSmileByAmyPrior_Closeup2

The fabulous Feather is from Manor House Creations and I am thinking that I need to purchase more of these aren’t they just divine? I have layered a few Flourish with a Bling goodies over the top of the feather and finished it off with a huge Donna Downey Prima Marketing Flower.

tn_ThingsThatMakeMeSmileByAmyPrior_Closeup3

The Live in the Moment Banner was fussy cut from one of the 12×12 Echo Park Paper Co Here & Now Papers and then I have inked the edges with the Ranger Archival Black Ink.

tn_ThingsThatMakeMeSmileByAmyPrior_Closeup4

Before I have layered all my papers together including some vellum, I have inked all the edges again with Ranger Archival Black Ink and using my Ranger Blending Tool.

Scrapbooking from Scratch with Jot Magazine

Howdy everybody!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend wherever you are in the world. Today I wanted to come and share a quick layout that I have created based on the current Jot Magazine Mood Board Challenge which you can find on their website here, and Anita’s fabulous sketch challenge from Scrapbooking From Scratch which you can find all the information for right here.

Here is the Jot Magazine Mood Board that I have worked with…

…and here is Anita’s fabulous sketch from the Scrapbooking From Scratch Blog…

…and here is my take on these 2 fabulous challenges combined. I just adored these fabulous bright colours but man was I out of my comfort zone using them all together!

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior

The title of my layout is “Strike a Pose”and I have used the Strike a Pose A2Z Scraplets Chipboard title painted with some Gelatos in an Ombre effect and then given a top coat of Glossy Accents. Enamel elements seem to be really in fashion in the scrapbooking world at the moment and the easiest way to create faux enamel is with paint or patterned paper and Glossy Accents.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup1

The patterned papers I have used are various from Studio Calico Hey Day Collection and a few different My Minds Eye Collections.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup2

The elements all over the page are from various brands also including Heidi Swapp Banners, Pink Paislee Artisan Stars, My Minds Eye Die Cuts & Stickers, BoBunny Stickers, Jilibean Stickers, Basic Grey Stickers and so many more that I forget.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup3

The tiny little alpha are from the Studio Calico Wood Veneer range and I have simply painted these with some Yellow Gelato to match my layout. The fabulous Corner arrow chipboard underneath my title has been coated with some Blue Polkadot Washi Tape from Queen & Co followed by some Glossy Accents to help add more of the faux enamel look.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup4

I have used various Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Sprays including Delphinium Turquoise Blue, Tiffany Lou Blue, Yellow Rose of Texas, California Poppy Gold & Hag’s Wart Orange. These Lindy’s Sprays have been splattered over my background as well as being used to colour my Pink Paislee Artisan Elements Stars.

There are still 2 days left to get in your entries for both these challenges so go enter today!

PaperHaus Magazine Shabby Tips

Hi everybody! So happy to have you here reading along my blog, keep your eyes out for a new giveaway happening really soon right here!

I am over on the PaperHaus Magazine Blog today sharing my top tips to add Shabby to any project and I have also got a little video to show you how. Click here to view my post on the PaperHaus Blog. Here is  the layout that I have created using these shabby tips…

tn_IMG_3968

This layout is also my entry into this month’s Once Upon A Sketch Challenge. The criteria for the challenge this month was to use the below sketch designed by the fabulous Nadia and then the theme was luck.

One of the main criteria for Once Upon a Sketch is to include proper journalling not just a title. I have extended my title with a little journalling on the bottom of my layout but then have more detailed journalling on the tag that is inside the Melissa Frances Vellum Envelope tucked into the left. My journalling reflects how lucky I am in love to have found a husband who is just as dorky and nerdy as I am LOL. The photo is a silly pose we did at our wedding in the midst of professional photos and smiling lots haha.

Don’t forget to head on over to the Once Upon a Sketch Blog here to enter your interpretation of the challenge also. You have until Midnight tonight.

Don’t forget to also head on over to the PaperHaus Magazine Blog here to check out the rest of the details for this layout along with my top shabby tips video tutorial.

Products Used for this layout Include…

ScrapBerry Colorful Dream Papers
Kaisercraft True Romance Die Cuts
