Scrapbooking from Scratch with Jot Magazine

Howdy everybody!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend wherever you are in the world. Today I wanted to come and share a quick layout that I have created based on the current Jot Magazine Mood Board Challenge which you can find on their website here, and Anita’s fabulous sketch challenge from Scrapbooking From Scratch which you can find all the information for right here.

Here is the Jot Magazine Mood Board that I have worked with…

…and here is Anita’s fabulous sketch from the Scrapbooking From Scratch Blog…

…and here is my take on these 2 fabulous challenges combined. I just adored these fabulous bright colours but man was I out of my comfort zone using them all together!

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior

The title of my layout is “Strike a Pose”and I have used the Strike a Pose A2Z Scraplets Chipboard title painted with some Gelatos in an Ombre effect and then given a top coat of Glossy Accents. Enamel elements seem to be really in fashion in the scrapbooking world at the moment and the easiest way to create faux enamel is with paint or patterned paper and Glossy Accents.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup1

The patterned papers I have used are various from Studio Calico Hey Day Collection and a few different My Minds Eye Collections.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup2

The elements all over the page are from various brands also including Heidi Swapp Banners, Pink Paislee Artisan Stars, My Minds Eye Die Cuts & Stickers, BoBunny Stickers, Jilibean Stickers, Basic Grey Stickers and so many more that I forget.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup3

The tiny little alpha are from the Studio Calico Wood Veneer range and I have simply painted these with some Yellow Gelato to match my layout. The fabulous Corner arrow chipboard underneath my title has been coated with some Blue Polkadot Washi Tape from Queen & Co followed by some Glossy Accents to help add more of the faux enamel look.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup4

I have used various Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Sprays including Delphinium Turquoise Blue, Tiffany Lou Blue, Yellow Rose of Texas, California Poppy Gold & Hag’s Wart Orange. These Lindy’s Sprays have been splattered over my background as well as being used to colour my Pink Paislee Artisan Elements Stars.

There are still 2 days left to get in your entries for both these challenges so go enter today!

CSI Case File No 78

Are you here for my June/July Giveaway? Click here for more info after you have read this post of course :)

Hi everybody! I am currently on my way to the fabulous Hunter Valley Gardens to enjoy the Snow Time fun as well as the chocolate festival mmmm chocolate. Ok so I might come back a few kilos heavier but I promise the diet starts next week LOL.

Today I wanted to quickly share a layout that I created for the current case file over at CSI Color Stories Inspiration. You can click here to visit CSI and join in the fun too.

Here is the details for Case File No 78

Now the idea of this challenge is to use all the colours, at least 2 pieces of evidence and at least 1 of the testimony options in your journalling.

Here is my take on the challenge using papers from Carta Bella & My Minds Eye…

tn_IMG_3350

The evidence that I have used includes Heidi Swapp Color Shine Paint Splatters (paint), Tim Holtz Ideaology Film Strip  (transparent object), Alpha Stickers (stickers) and My Minds Eye Enamel Dots (something glossy).

tn_IMG_3351 tn_IMG_3352

To create the background effect, I have used Heidi Swapp 6×6 Polkadot Stencil with 2 different shades of Distress Inks and a Blending Tool. I have then sprayed some Mustard Color Shine into the centre and dripped a few splatters in 2 corners.

Well that is it from me today, thanks so much for stopping by and I would love for you to leave me a comment so I can come visit you too.

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Once Upon A Sketch June Challenge

Are you here for my Jun/July Giveaway? Click here for more info after you have read this post of course :)

Hi everyone! Wow my poor blog has been neglected in my moving house but all that is about to change I promise. I am happy to say that my studio is unpacked to the point of being able to work in there YAY. Not ready for classes yet but I have too much to catch up on to worry about that this week anyway.

I hope you are all well and having a fabulous day wherever you are in the world. Today I wanted to quickly come share my entry for this month’s Once Upon a Sketch Challenge. I am super late with the deadline being midnight tonight but there is still time for anyone eager to get their entries in. The challenge this month is to use the sketch below and to incorporate the theme “My Guilty Pleasure”.

Ok so my guilty pleasure is probably Pepsi Max because I really cannot live without it but coming close for second place would be my love for Scrapbooking Supplies but mainly FLOWERS! Yes I have way too many yet I never seem to have the right one for the task LOL. The photo is an instagram pic that I took while I was packing up my studio for the move and I was a little shocked when I unpacked my flowers into these giant bags.

IMG_3217

The fabulous papers that I have used are from the Prima Marketing Art Journal 12×12 Paper Pad. I am just in love with these fabulous papers at the moment and they worked well with the layout that I had in mind although I added a couple of extra layers that weren’t in the sketch LOL I just couldn’t help myself.

IMG_3218

After layering all the paper together with my photo I decided that I wanted to machine stitch around all the edges which of course is a lot easier BEFORE you layer things together but I think I pulled it off LOL. I then went to town with a sewing pick to rip up some of that stitching to give a more aged shabby look. I also kept all the loose threads from the machine stitching so I could add to the flower clusters.

IMG_3219

The Scalloped Chipboard piece was cut from the A2Z Scraplets Nested Scalloped Squares. To decorate these I have simply added some Mother of Pearl Modelling Paint over the top roughly and then stamped with my Stampin Up Polka Dot Wood Mounted Background Stamp. Just love the effect it created and I then added some Glossy Accents to help the Prima ABC letters adhere properly to the chipboard piece.

IMG_3220

The background paper was also given some smeres of the Viva Decor Mother of Pearl Modelling Paint over the Prima 12×12 Static Stencil. I just adore this stencil and I am sure it will be my new favourite.

IMG_3221

Last but not least was a bunch of fabulous Prima flowers, a Flourish with a Bling Grace Pearl Flourish cut up,  some journalling, inking with distress inks on the shabby resin, and Distress Staining the flower edges with White then voila!

I hope I have inspired you all to get creative and don’t forget that the Once Upon A Sketch Challenge ends midnight tonight and you can view the website here.

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Scrapbooking From Scratch May Sketch Challenge

If you are here for my giveaway, click here. Only 2 more days to enter!

Hi everyone, just a quick share today from me. I have entered the Scrapbooking From Scratch Sketch Challenge this month with only a couple of days to spare before closing date.

Here is the sketch and you can visit the Scrapbooking From Scratch Website here.

So here is my take on the sketch. As you can see, I have changed it a little to suit the layout that I wanted and I went with some Banners instead of Chevrons.

FunAtHunterValleyGardensByAmyPrior

The Patterned Paper, stickers & embellishments are from Heidi Swapp and there is also a Yellow Charms Creations Embellishment used.

FunAtHunterValleyGardensByAmyPrior2

To create the background, I have randomly coated a piece of Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic Papers with some Gesso. I then decided that I wanted to cut the strip down the side so out came the Silhouette Cameo Machine and a Princess Crown Border file.

FunAtHunterValleyGardensByAmyPrior3

When the Gesso was dry, I have adhered some lace, tickets and some more Heidi Swapp Sugar Chic paper to make the layout 12×12 again and then I have randomly stamped some Chicken Wire over the entire page using the Tim Holtz Cling Rubber Stamp along with some Ranger Archival Ink in Coffee.

FunAtHunterValleyGardensByAmyPrior4

The chicken wire Chipboard is from A2Z Scraplets of course, and was cut to suit my layout. I have covered the chipboard with a layer of Metallic Pink Acrylic Paint from Viva Decor and then have spraying some Hot Patootie Pink Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Spray over the top letting it pool up a little for a more interesting textured colour.

I have then simply layered lots of fabulous papers from Heidi Swapp’s Sugar Chic collection, added some Doodling and stickers and Bob’s your uncle, I was finished.

That’s it from me today, be sure to check back regularly for more inspiration and until next time, happy scrapping!

Berry71Bleu Guest Designer for May

If you are here for my giveaway, click here. Only 3 more days to enter!

Hi everyone! Today I am back to share a layout that I have created as a Guest Designer for Berry71Bleu this month. The challenge was to use the May Once Upon a Time Sketch Challenge as well as incorporate some chipboard so of course I used some A2Z Scraplets on my page. Checkout the Berry71Bleu blog here.

The challenge this month was to play along with the Once Upon A Sketch Challenge but also using some chipboard. Here is the sketch.

I decided to use some 7 Dots Studio Patterned Paper and elements for this layout. To start I have added some texture to a white 12×12 piece of cardstock. To do this, I have used an A2Z Scraplets Masklet with some Viva Decor Pearl Modelling Paste. When this was dry, I have doodled around a couple of the arrows. As you can see, I have used the stencil 2 different ways for a more interesting visual effect.

tn_BirthdayGirlByAmyPrior

To decorate the birthday present A2Z Scraplet Chipboard piece, I have used 4 different shades of Perfect Pearls Powder that were all mixed with some Texture Paste. I made the paste really thick so it would create some fun texture on the chipboard. When this was dry, I have inked the top with some Black Archival Ink.

tn_BirthdayGirlByAmyPrior5

Before I started layering my elements down, I decided I wanted some colour on the background. To do this I have simply splattered some Pink Dylusions Ink as well as some Blue Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Spray. To create splatters easily, I spray some of the mist into the lid of the bottle and then hold above my page about 30cm and drop. If you want to create a bigger splash go a little further and vice versa.

tn_BirthdayGirlByAmyPrior2

The Birthday Girl Chipboard title was trimmed to fit my layout better and I have coated the letters with some Pearl Viva Decor Modelling Paste very roughly to create lots of texture. I then inked the top with some Black Archival Ink and moved onto the Cupcake Chipboard piece that I had removed. To decorate this I have simply sprayed some Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Spray over.

tn_BirthdayGirlByAmyPrior3

The last chipboard element, the double photo frames, were coated with some of the fabulous 7 Dots Studio co-ordinating papers and then the edges were sanded back roughly. I have also sanded back the edges of all my layers of paper to add some more white distressing but then I decided to ink around the edges of some of the stickers and embellishments with Archival Black Ink to add some more black distressing to the page.
