Buddies ScrapFriends & Feeling Sketchy

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well, I have been so very quiet this week because my family has been very very ill and it has knocked me about for all my commitments so any work I have been doing, I was unable to share just yet. I did quickly get this layout completed for the current Feeling Sketchy Sketch #71 Challenge as well as the ScrapFriends Colour #17 Challenge.

Here is my take on these 2 challenges combined. I have simply titled this layout “Buddies” because I was really struggling to label the photograph as anything other than a celebration of good buddies.

tn_BuddiesByAmyPrior

The papers that I have used for this collection are mainly from the Studio Calico Sundrifter Collection but I have added some random papers from Heidi Swapp and My Minds Eye into the mix as well. The background paper has been misted using a 12×12 Crafters Workshop Template with Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists in Black, Chartreuse & Mustard.

tn_BuddiesByAmyPrior_closeup1

I am loving the Pink Paislee Artisan Elements lately and honestly don’t think I will ever get sick of using them they are just so fun to add to any project and so easily alterable. I have left them plain white for this layout and added some Black Flourish with a Bling Rhinestones to the centres of the circles on the circle border strip.

tn_BuddiesByAmyPrior_closeup2

The watermelon coloured flower is from Manor House Creations and just worked perfectly with my subtle hints of black for this layout. The other 2 flowers are from Flourish with a Bling and include 1 White Maddison Flower that I have coloured using Heidi Swapp Chartreuse Color Shine Mist and then heat dried until it  melted a little. The other flower is a gorgeous little Elise Flower that I have left unaltered.

tn_BuddiesByAmyPrior_closeup3

The last touch was adding some Machine stitching and some black Heidi Swapp Color Shine Drops. My sewing machine was not playing nice and all my zig zag stitching was disastrous but still I love the messy effect of it.

Products used for this layout include…
Studio Calico Sundrifter Collection Papers & Stickers
Various Patterned papers including Heidi Swapp & My Minds Eye
Flourish with a Bling Maddison & Ellise Flowers
Flourish with a Bling Kate’s Corner Flourish
Flourish with a Bling Single Self Adhesive Black Rhinestones
The Crafter’s Workshop 12×12 Burst Stencil Template
Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists Chartreuse, Mustard, & Black
Manor House Creations Flower
Prima Marketing Alpha Stickers

Helmar Scrap Dots
X-Press IT Double Sided Tape

Well that is it from me for today, but check back soon for some more inspiration and until then, happy scrapping!

IMG_4062

I have lots of closeup shots for you of course. Checkout the background detail. I have used a Crafter’s Workshop 6×6 mask in each corner and then doodled and watercoloured some of the circles. Doesn’t it look fun?

IMG_4063

The papers are all random from my stash and include brands like My Minds Eye, BoBunny, Websters Pages, Pink Paislee, Fancy Pants & Authentique. I have also fussy cut the butterflies from an old piece of Kaisercraft Specialty Patterned Paper. How fun is the glitter on the butterflies!

IMG_4064

The kite sticker is from an old Echo Park collection and the Chalk frame is from the new My Minds Eye Chalk Studio Collection. I just love the contrast of the black on the frame as well as on the Heidi Swapp Acetate Banner.

IMG_4065

I have cut up a Flourish with a Bling Jasmine Puff Flourish and added it randomly plus I have added some flair from Lil Somethin & Fancy Pants.

I am over on the PaperHaus Magazine Blog today sharing my top tips to add Shabby to any project and I have also got a little video to show you how. Click here to view my post on the PaperHaus Blog. Here is  the layout that I have created using these shabby tips…

tn_IMG_3968

This layout is also my entry into this month’s Once Upon A Sketch Challenge. The criteria for the challenge this month was to use the below sketch designed by the fabulous Nadia and then the theme was luck.

One of the main criteria for Once Upon a Sketch is to include proper journalling not just a title. I have extended my title with a little journalling on the bottom of my layout but then have more detailed journalling on the tag that is inside the Melissa Frances Vellum Envelope tucked into the left. My journalling reflects how lucky I am in love to have found a husband who is just as dorky and nerdy as I am LOL. The photo is a silly pose we did at our wedding in the midst of professional photos and smiling lots haha.

Don’t forget to head on over to the Once Upon a Sketch Blog here to enter your interpretation of the challenge also. You have until Midnight tonight.

Don’t forget to also head on over to the PaperHaus Magazine Blog here to check out the rest of the details for this layout along with my top shabby tips video tutorial.

Products Used for this layout Include…
Cést Magnifique September Kit including
ScrapBerry Colorful Dream Papers
Kaisercraft True Romance Die Cuts
Blue Fern Studios Chipboard Banners
Tim Holtz Rock Candy Crackle Medium
Crafters Workshop Damask Mask
Gesso
Distress Ink Antique Linen
Flowers from Flourish with a Bling, Manor House Creations & Kaisercraft
Melissa Frances Vellum Envelope & Tag
Prima Marketing Shabby Resin & Say it in Pearls
Ingvild Bolme Shabby Resin
Prima Marketing Butterflies & Alpha Stickers

The Best Thing About Memories Is Making Them

Are you here for my June/July Giveaway? Click here for more info after you have read this post of course :)

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well, as I busily try to catch up on my Design Team Commitments after the chaos of moving house, I decided to have a quick play with the Scrapbooking From Scratch Quote Challenge this for June hosted by Charmane from Charms Creations.

The Quote is “The Best Thing About Memories Is Making Them”

tn_IMG_3236

I decided to use the fabulous Modern Romance Line Papers from Websters Pages and I have used the Clean and Simple sides for my backgrounds and then have fussy cut lots of fabulous flowers to use in my clusters.

tn_IMG_3237

In the bottom left corner, I have added some fussy cut flowers alongside a Charms Creation Lollipop, Prima Marketing Ingvild Blome Light Bulb and a fabulous Heidi Swapp Buzz Word.

tn_IMG_3238

I have used some American Crafts Thickers alongside some Prima Marketing ABC Stickers for creating my title.

tn_IMG_3239

The Background has some subtle masking using Texture Acrylic Paint and the Brocade 12×12 Crafters Workshop Template. I applied the paint with a natural sponge to get an interesting effect.

tn_IMG_3240

A Prima Marketing Resin Window, some Prima flowers alongside some Pink Paislee Artisan Elements and the layout was complete.

Overall I would have to say I am not a fan of this layout LOL. I am my own worst critic I know but I went way off track with my original plan and the page suffered.

Thanks so much for checking out my blog and don’t forget to leave me some love .

Until next time, happy scrapping!

150

out for publication - Page 001

Now onto some closeups of course. The patterned paper of choice for this layout was a combination of Heidi Swapp and Studio Calico. The background was given more textured layers by adding some Kaisercraft Paint mixed with Texture Paste using a Crafters Workshop Stencil. When the paint was still wet, I have sprinkled some Orange Micro Beads over the top and then splattered some random spots of Perfect Pearls Mist. Next I have used some Punchinella with Distress Ink to create the circles randomly and followed by some random stamping using my Stampin Up Background Stamp and some WOW Embossing Powder.

PureBeautyByAmyPrior2

The easiest way to create such a random embossed effect, is to stamp the entire surface using embossing adhesive, followed by pouring the powder over like normal. Before you heat set it, grab yourself a paint brush and brush away random sections of the powder including very solid blocks and lines etc. This gives a more natural feel and some of the embossing powder stuck to the micro beads which I thought was a cool effect.

PureBeautyByAmyPrior3

The Banners and Brace Shape Chipboar pieces are of course from A2Z Scraplets. The Banner has been covered with some super cute Washi Tape that I found at my local Kmart store last week. I have then added some White Pearl Strips and sprayed with Lindys Stamp Gang Fabio Spray. The Brace shape was first covered with a red patterned paper and then some orange striped washi tape was used over the top. I didn’t have much Tangerine so figured this was a good way to create it but it just turned out Orange so I went ahead and sprayed some Orange Perfect Pearls Mist over the top anyway. Gotta add that sparkle!

PureBeautyByAmyPrior4

Lots of other beautiful elements to this layout including Handmade Halo Mulberry Flower that I have coloured using Lindys Stamp Gang Fabio Spray, Charms Creations Page Runner, My Minds Eye Printed Chipboard Piece as well as some Studio Calico Tags.

Overall I was really happy with how this layout turned out as these colours are definately out of my comfort zone. Be sure to head on over to the Color Room website here and play along for your chance to win some fab prizes.

Well that is it from me today, thanks so much for reading and don’t forget to leave me a comment so I can come visit you as well.

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Once Upon A Sketch April

If you are here for my giveaway, click here for more info!

Hi everybody! So glad to have you all here reading along with my artsy journey. It is so good to be back sharing my passion with you all.

Today I have a layout to share that was based on the April sketch on the Once Upon A Sketch Blog. Unfortunately my entry was too late but wanted to share anyway 🙂

Here is the sketch that Nadia has designed this month…

Here is my take on the sketch. I have used the gorgeous papers from Maja Design Vintage Summer Basics Line.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior

To create the background, I have layered random snippets of my 6×6 Crafters Workshop Brick Stencil using a thick amount of Metallic Viva Acrylic Paint and a Palette Knife. Once this was dry, I have added some Champagne Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam over the top roughly to create a more vintage tone.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior2

The paper pieces have been distressed using the Ingvild Blome Prima Distress Tool and then inked using Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior3

The fabulous A2Z Scraplets Chipboard Chicken Wire was cut to varying sizes to suit my layout and then painted with Viva Metallic Paint Mother of Pearl. The Title, which is also from A2Z, has been sprayed using Lindys Stampgang Moonshadow Starburst Stain Sprays. I just love these sprays because you get a variation of 2 different colour inks along with 2 different colour glimmers. The effect is truly incredible! I have added some little bits of Gesso with my finger on the top to shabby it up a little.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior4

Majority of the gorgeous flowers are from Handmade Halo as well as all of the pretty little charms and the trim. I have added a small amount of gesso to the tips of the flowers to give them a more shabby feel and the charms have a small amount of Gesso plus Champagne Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam.

Be sure to head on over to the Handmade Halo website here and the A2Z Scraplets website here, to grab yourself some pretties. Don’t forget that A2Z Scraplets can also custom make anything you like, just click the custom order link on the website.

Well that’s it for now, until next time, happy scrapping!
