A2Z Scraplets October Sketch Challenge & CSI Case File #91

Hi everybody! I am back today to share the awesome new challenge over at the A2Z Scraplets blog this month. Caz has chosen a fabulous PageMaps Sketch for us to play along with this month and I um strayed a lot from the sketch in the end because I printed my photo too big and other reasons totally beyond my control but you can still sort of squint and see the original sketch inspiration in my layout LOL. I also decided to tie in with the current CSI Challenge Theme and colours so check out that case file at the end of my blog post and all the details for that challenge. Click here to visit the A2Z Scraplets Blog Post outlining the October Challenge details.

Here is the Sketch…

Here is my take on the sketch using lots of fabulous A2Z Scraplets products including Brickwall Stencilet, Shapes – Speech Bubbles, Just Hangin Out Title, Doodlet 20 & Doodlet 26.

tn_JustHangingOutWithTheKangaroosByAmyPrior

The background paper is from 7 Dots Studio and I have added some Artichoke Shimmerz Texture Paste using the A2Z Brickwall Stencil. I am so in love with these Shimmerz Texture pastes and I definately need to get my hands on some more colours. They are so fun and grainy and chunky so they look perfect with the A2Z Scraplets Brickwall Stencilet. I have also splatters some little droplets of Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists over the background as well to add a touch more colour.

tn_JustHangingOutWithTheKangaroosByAmyPrior_closeup1

My Chipboard title “Just Hangin Out” from A2Z Scraplets has also was covered with the awesome Arti Choked Texture Paste from Shimmerz. I have smeared some of this on my Craft Mat and then dipped the Chipboard title face down into the texture paste. I have then outlined the letters in black permanent texta so you can read it a little easier.

tn_JustHangingOutWithTheKangaroosByAmyPrior_closeup2

The fabulous Doodlets from A2Z Scraplets have been layered on top of each other for a fabulous fun effect but before I have layered them together, I have sprayed them randomly with various Heidi Swapp Color Shine Mists keeping one in cool colours and one in warm colours, Teal, Mustard, Sweet Cherry, Chantreuse & Primrose. Spraying in random spots adds texture without adding texture if you get what I mean? LOL Don’t you love my technical way of describing things?

tn_JustHangingOutWithTheKangaroosByAmyPrior_closeup3

My paper layers are randomly layered pieces varying from Crate Paper, Studio Calico, My Minds Eye & 7 Dots Studio. The only piece of paper that I really put a lot of thought into was the Crate Paper Pier Collection Giant Chevron pattern. The original patterned paper had various colours including lots of shades of blues, pinks etc and they did not all match with the colour palette from the CSI challenge so I have fussy cut out the pieces of chevron that had the right colours and then stuck them back together to perfectly match my layout.

tn_JustHangingOutWithTheKangaroosByAmyPrior_closeup4

There are lots of fabulous Printed Chipboard pieces on this layout also including some from My Minds Eye & Teresa Collins.  I had lots of fun doodling all over this layout when it was finished and decided at the last minute to add some Clear Epoxy Dots to the background paper as well. I have used Prima Marketing ones alongside some Tim Holtz Bottle Cap Clear Stickers.

tn_JustHangingOutWithTheKangaroosByAmyPrior_closeup5

My journalling was written on the A2Z Scraplets Speech Bubbles that have been covered with coordinating papers from my layout. I have then doodled around them and journalled about this awesome day hanging out with the kangaroos at the Reptile Park.

Products used for this layout include…
A2Z Scraplets Brickwall Stencilet

A2Z Scraplets September Blind Challenge – Believe to Achieve

Hi everyone! I am back today to share with you all my example layout for the A2Z Scraplets September Blind Challenge. Did you see it? Click here to visit the A2Z Scraplets blog post to find out how to enter. You have until midnight tonight so hurry!

What is a Blind Challenge I hear you say? Well a blind challenge is very simple. All participants are given the exact same set of basic instructions including measurements etc to create a scrapbook layout from and email to the Challenge Coordinator. How each person interprets the instructions is the truly amazing part, no 2 projects ever look the same and some vary so drastically which is so very exciting to see.

IMG_3974

All entries and examples have been left a secret until today, the last day of the month so no one could copy layouts etc. You can see some more inspiration from our Design Team on the A2Z Scraplets blog right here. We all had so much fun playing along with this and even I, the one who wrote the instructions, couldn’t keep to my own directions and have added and changed bits LOL. The whole point is to have fun and get inspiration in a new way.

IMG_3975

One of the very first instructions was to mask the background in 2 corners and add splatters. The instructions only mention one colour also but I was trying to go for the Chalkboard effect and wasn’t happy so needed to add some Colourful Splatters LOL. I have used the A2Z Scraplets Checkerplate Stencilet for it.

IMG_3976

The white masking and droplets were created using Dylusions White Ink Spray and I have then sprayed my A2Z Scraplets Believe to Achieve Title with the White Dylusions as well. When I was splattering my background with colour using some Heidi Swapp Color Shine, I have also splattered lots of tiny droplet of colour onto the A2Z Scraplets Chipboard title and I have then dooled around the edges using a black pen.

IMG_3977

The fabulous papers and stickers that I have used are from the Fancy Pants Wonderful Day Collection and I have added lots of doodling and random stitching for added interest around these. Another part that was not in the instructions was the photo matting that I have done with the Red Paper from Fancy Pants LOL I know I am so naughty, I can’t ever follow directions especially my own haha. How fun is that cork paper?

IMG_3978

My flowers were created using left over papers and I will have a video up in the next couple of days showing how I did these so stay tuned.

September White with 1 Challenge – Pistachio

Hi everyone! I am so excited to be sharing this layout today along with some very exciting news. I am on the fabulous new White with 1 Design Team starting in October. I did get the chance to play along this month’s challenge also and man it is awesome! Not only have they gone back to being simply white with 1 challenges but also this month EVERY single person who enters the challenge gets a free set of flair from A Lil Somethin no joke! I couldn’t believe it and all us DT gals got some to play with too. Click here to visit the White with 1 Blog and enter today.

So the colour this month is Pistachio and wow the design team did an awesome job with this one. Here is my take on the the challenge…

tn_IMG_3909

I just adore this photo of my eldest Mia. Both my girls had just finished rolling down a huge hill local to us called the skillion. It was their first time rolling down a hill and they thought I was so silly for suggesting it until they got to the bottom. They were so full of energy getting back up and running back up the hill to come roll back down it was such a fabulous day. Our whole church had just finished walking up the skillion with a cross for Good Friday and it truly was a magnificent day.

tn_IMG_3910

The background was created using Modelling Paste and a Heidi Swapp stencil over some White Cardstock. I have heat dried the modelling paste using my heat gun which created lots of bubbles and interesting texture. I then went to my stash and found whatever papers that I could find with either white neutral patterns or pistachio coloured. Man it was hard cause I found about 50 odd pieces of paper and then I had to sort out which ones to use LOL.

tn_IMG_3911

The papers are from various brands including My Minds Eye, Basic Grey, Websters Pages, Echo Park Paper Co, Stampin Up, Authentique and the polaroid frame on my photo is from Heidi Swapp.

tn_IMG_3912

I had some patterned glassine bags from Fancy Pants that I thought was close enough for me to use to hide my journalling tag in so I have layered that underneath and my tag pulls out to reveal the description of the day pretty much just as I outlined in my above comments.

tn_IMG_3913

I have added lots of yummy goodies to the layout including Flourish with a Bling flowers, Prima Marketing Flowers, Flourish with a Bling Individual pearls, flourishes and vines, Ingvild Bolme Shabby Resin and some stickers from various companies including Jillibean Soup, My Minds Eye & Echo Park Paper Co. The finishing touch was my a Lil Somethin Flair badges and some extra pearls here and there then I was done. I was so happy with how this layout turned out I really love creating white with 1 you should definately all try it.

Various old patterned papers from brands Websters Pages, Basic Grey, Stampin Up, Echo Park Paper Co, My Minds Eye & Authentique

tn_IMG_3446

and a couple of closeups…

tn_IMG_3449

I have used the new release Days Like This Title and I wanted to create my own background with this fabulous title for a change. To do this, I have simply place my chipboard title raw, over the cardstock (Bazzil Bling Yellow) and then sprayed with Black Heidi Swapp Color Shine, moved the chipboard title around and sprayed again and again and again. This has created a fabulous gradual tone of black to yellow and an awesome graffiti looking custom background to match my title.  I also wanted to add a little bit more colour to my background so I have splattered some Teal & Primrose Pink Color Shine randomly.

tn_IMG_3448

I have then added some Yellow Tim Holtz Crackle Paint to the words “LIKE THIS” and decided to spray some Mustard Yellow Heidi Swapp Color Shine over the top to allow some glimmer to soak into those cracks. Then I realised how silly I was doing a yellow title on a yellow background, so I started to scrape some of the crackle paint off to leave the fabulous yellow glimmer cracks showing only with a few chunks of messy crackle paint left here and there. This is definately a fun technique that I will try again because Crackle Paint needs tooth and the Color Shine mist didn’t create that tooth for it. I then outlined the DAYS word with some Pink Flamingo Ranger Liquid Pearls and cut my title up to use as I wanted on the layout.

tn_IMG_3447

The papers and stickers that I have used for this layout are all from the Echo Park Paper Co Here & Now Collection which is a new favourite of mine! I just adore the fun bright colours and fabulous patterns.
