Once Upon A Sketch June Challenge

Are you here for my Jun/July Giveaway? Click here for more info after you have read this post of course :)

Hi everyone! Wow my poor blog has been neglected in my moving house but all that is about to change I promise. I am happy to say that my studio is unpacked to the point of being able to work in there YAY. Not ready for classes yet but I have too much to catch up on to worry about that this week anyway.

I hope you are all well and having a fabulous day wherever you are in the world. Today I wanted to quickly come share my entry for this month’s Once Upon a Sketch Challenge. I am super late with the deadline being midnight tonight but there is still time for anyone eager to get their entries in. The challenge this month is to use the sketch below and to incorporate the theme “My Guilty Pleasure”.

Ok so my guilty pleasure is probably Pepsi Max because I really cannot live without it but coming close for second place would be my love for Scrapbooking Supplies but mainly FLOWERS! Yes I have way too many yet I never seem to have the right one for the task LOL. The photo is an instagram pic that I took while I was packing up my studio for the move and I was a little shocked when I unpacked my flowers into these giant bags.

The fabulous papers that I have used are from the Prima Marketing Art Journal 12×12 Paper Pad. I am just in love with these fabulous papers at the moment and they worked well with the layout that I had in mind although I added a couple of extra layers that weren’t in the sketch LOL I just couldn’t help myself.

IMG_3218

After layering all the paper together with my photo I decided that I wanted to machine stitch around all the edges which of course is a lot easier BEFORE you layer things together but I think I pulled it off LOL. I then went to town with a sewing pick to rip up some of that stitching to give a more aged shabby look. I also kept all the loose threads from the machine stitching so I could add to the flower clusters.

The Scalloped Chipboard piece was cut from the A2Z Scraplets Nested Scalloped Squares. To decorate these I have simply added some Mother of Pearl Modelling Paint over the top roughly and then stamped with my Stampin Up Polka Dot Wood Mounted Background Stamp. Just love the effect it created and I then added some Glossy Accents to help the Prima ABC letters adhere properly to the chipboard piece.

The background paper was also given some smeres of the Viva Decor Mother of Pearl Modelling Paint over the Prima 12×12 Static Stencil. I just adore this stencil and I am sure it will be my new favourite.

Last but not least was a bunch of fabulous Prima flowers, a Flourish with a Bling Grace Pearl Flourish cut up,  some journalling, inking with distress inks on the shabby resin, and Distress Staining the flower edges with White then voila!

I hope I have inspired you all to get creative and don’t forget that the Once Upon A Sketch Challenge ends midnight tonight and you can view the website here.

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Prima May BAP & Scrapbooking from Scratch May Quote Challenge

If you are here for my giveaway, click here. Only 1 more days to enter!

Hi everyone! I am back to share another quick layout with you all today that I have based on this month’s Prima Marketing BAP Challenge and I have also incorporated the Scrapbooking From Scratch May Quote Challenge  also. Click here to view the Prima May Challenge Blog Post and click here to visit the Scrapbooking From Scratch Gallery to see all this month’s challenges.

Here is the Prima BAP Sketch for the month of May and the Quote over at SFS is “Girlfriends are the sisters we pick out for ourselves”

So here is my take on the sketch and the quote. I actually mucked up the quote a little whoops but it still works. I have used the fabulous Prima Marketing Firefly Collection papers.

To add more texture to the background, I have added some Gesso using the Prima Donna Downey Random Dots Stencil and I smudged it a little so I decided to scrape the circles down the page to add a more smeared effect. There is never any mistakes in art LOL. When this was dry, I have dripped some Chalkboard Mists & Lindys Stamp Gang Mists down the page and then stamped some random areas with a Tim Holtz Texture Stamp using some Turquoise Perfect Pearls Powder.

tn_The3AmigosByAmyPrior2

I have used a bunch of Prima Shabby Resin, Flowers, Bling & Alpha for this layout as well as some Prima Donna Downey Canvas Script Flags that I have sprayed with some Chalkboard mists.

tn_The3AmigosByAmyPrior4

I have then added some Gesso to the edges of the Flags, and threaded through some Twine to add the banner over my layout.  I then grabbed some American Crafts Thickers to spell out Amigos and stuck them down to my Ranger Craft Sheet so I could easily sand them back a tad before adhering to my flags using some Ranger Glossy Accents.

tn_The3AmigosByAmyPrior5

I just love how this layout has turned out. Some random smearing of Gesso onto some of the Prima Alpha and a Pink Paislee Mistable Arrow added then my layout was complete. As you can see I have twisted and added to the original sketch a little (the banner was added) .

My adhesives by choice are always Helmar including Scrap Dots, 450 Glue & others.

Well that is it from me today, thanks so much for reading and until next time, happy scrapping!

Mothers Day Canvas Gift

If you are here for my giveaway, click here for more info!

Howdy everybody! I hope you are all well and I hope the weather is lovely wherever you are. Today we have a beautiful sunny day here and it definately is not feeling like the end of Autumn!

Today I have a canvas to share with you all. I have created this canvas for my dear mum or mother in law for Mothers Day. I am making a second one too that I will share with you on Friday that will be a little different.

MothersDayCanvasForNannaByAmyPrior

This canvas was also created using the fabulous Photo Inspiration Challenge over at Flourish with a Bling.  Here is the photo that I got my inspiration from…

And now for some closeups…

MothersDayCanvasForNannaByAmyPrior2

The beautiful flowers are a mixture of Prima, Kaisercraft, Green Tara & Handmade Halo. Among the Flower Cluster, I have some fabulous Prima Shabby Resin as well as some Green Tara Beaded Stems.

MothersDayCanvasForNannaByAmyPrior3

To create the textured background, I have first covered the entire canvas with texture paste using a Prima Stencil. I have then sprayed the background with various Mists after placing some doilies randomly. I then have removed the doilies, splattered some acrylic paint, and then masked again, this time using WOW Embossing Powders.

MothersDayCanvasForNannaByAmyPrior4

To finish off the backgroun, I have glooped some Embossing Ink Refill and allowed to dry overnight. When it is still tacky, I have then embossed using various WOW Embossing Powders.

I had lots of fun creating this canvas and was definately inspired by Stacey Young’s Prima Canvas Creation.

Thanks so much for reading along, don’t forget to leave me a comment so I can come visit your blog too.

Until next time, happy scrapping!

Mothers Day Cards

If you are here for my giveaway, click here for more info!

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well. Today I have 2 cards to share with you that I have made for my mother and mother in law for this upcoming Mothers Day on the 12th May. Now my lovely mother needs to stop reading now if she is reading this blog post hehe.

I have created both these cards using the Prima April Challenge Palette which you can view here. Here is the palette full of beautiful spring colours…

And here is the first card that I have created. For both cards, I have used the Prima Donna Downey Designed Firefly collection which is probably one of my all time fave collections ever. I just love the vibrant colours and artistic style of these papers.

I have simply layered various pieces of patterned paper along with a Prima Chipboard Accent here. All the Patterned Papers were distressed using my Prima Ingvild Blome Distress Tool.

I have finished off the card with some beautiful Prima flowers that I have shabbied up with some Gesso, followed by a gorgeous Prima Resin and some Prima Font. The trim I have used is the only non-Prima product and this trim is from Melissa Frances. I just adore her lines!

HappyMothersDayCardByAmyPrior2

Now for the next card, I have used my Silhouette Cameo Machine to cut a Doily from the Firefly papers as well as using a regular paper doily.

out for publication - Page 001

I have machine stitched the edges of the paper as well as around the doily centre.

The card was simply finished off with an array of amazing Prima flowers, Prima Shabby Resin and a Prima Heart on top! Again I have shabbied these flowers up with some Gesso. I would usually use white acrylic paint but somehow I have ran out! Eeeekkk

Well that is it from me today, thanks so much for reading along and don’t forget to leave me a comment 🙂 I would love to checkout your blogs too.

Until next time, happy scrapping!
