Hi everyone! I hope you are all well and enjoying this lovely Friday where ever you are.
Today I am here to share with you my entry into April’s Berry71bleu Challenge which you can view here.
This month’s challenge is “April Showers bring May Flowers”. Of course here in Australia we are gearing up for Winter but in the US the flowers are in bloom and this fabulous picture board was actually created of photos from the Berry71bleu Designer Debbie’s garden! How awesome! I wish my garden looked this pretty.
So the challenge is simple, show off some beautiful flowers and I certainly hope I have done the challenge justice with this gorgeous layout…
How precious is my girl Mia? This was the hospital photo taken by the professionals who go around the local Maternity Ward. This photo was so large that I wanted to frame it but thought it was too plain and white with the terry toweling background she was laying on.
As you can see, I decided that Mia was going to be laying in a bed of flowers, literally. I fussy cut out the picture of her sleeping and then using some gorgeous Maja Designs Vintage Summer Basics Papers I got to work. First off I have layered some Cheesecloth that was ripped and torn up using some Ranger Studio Multi Medium. When this was layered, I have added a very VERY thick layer of Helmar Scrap Dots into the centre of the back of the photo and stuck into place lightly so it is raised about 1 inch from the layout.
While the scrapdots were still wet, I have gone to town literally with flowers galore out of my stash. Brands include Handmade Halo, Manor House Creations, Prima, Green Tara, Kaisercraft & more. When all the flowers were in place, I have cut up some Flourish with a Bling flourishes to suit the layout and then adhered some single pearls around the page also.
The final touches were to add some white paint to the tips of the flowers to shabby them up a bit, and then to add some of my fave embellishments, of course, the Handmade Halo Antique Brass Charms. How perfect are they as an addition to any layout? There is literally hundreds and thousands of different types.
The Original Photo had a frame printed on in white and at the bottom of the frame was the information “Mia Tiana Prior Born on 23rd May 2007”. I didn’t want to overwhelm the layout more with a massive title so I decided to cut this strip of information out and trimmed the ends to look like a banner. Finally a little touch of Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink (which I also used around the edges of the layout) and voila! Another completed layout in a suprisingly short amount of time.
This will of course have to be framed in a shadow box I think and put on display as it is just too pretty (not to mention 3Dimensional) to go into an album.
Don’t forget to head on over to www.handmadehalo.com.au and pickup some fabulous Antique Brass Charms and mulberry flowers.
Until next time, happy scrapping.
