Scrapbooking from Scratch with Jot Magazine

Howdy everybody!! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend wherever you are in the world. Today I wanted to come and share a quick layout that I have created based on the current Jot Magazine Mood Board Challenge which you can find on their website here, and Anita’s fabulous sketch challenge from Scrapbooking From Scratch which you can find all the information for right here.

Here is the Jot Magazine Mood Board that I have worked with…

…and here is Anita’s fabulous sketch from the Scrapbooking From Scratch Blog…

…and here is my take on these 2 fabulous challenges combined. I just adored these fabulous bright colours but man was I out of my comfort zone using them all together!

The title of my layout is “Strike a Pose”and I have used the Strike a Pose A2Z Scraplets Chipboard title painted with some Gelatos in an Ombre effect and then given a top coat of Glossy Accents. Enamel elements seem to be really in fashion in the scrapbooking world at the moment and the easiest way to create faux enamel is with paint or patterned paper and Glossy Accents.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup1

The patterned papers I have used are various from Studio Calico Hey Day Collection and a few different My Minds Eye Collections.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup2

The elements all over the page are from various brands also including Heidi Swapp Banners, Pink Paislee Artisan Stars, My Minds Eye Die Cuts & Stickers, BoBunny Stickers, Jilibean Stickers, Basic Grey Stickers and so many more that I forget.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup3

The tiny little alpha are from the Studio Calico Wood Veneer range and I have simply painted these with some Yellow Gelato to match my layout. The fabulous Corner arrow chipboard underneath my title has been coated with some Blue Polkadot Washi Tape from Queen & Co followed by some Glossy Accents to help add more of the faux enamel look.

tn_StrikeaPoseByAmyPrior_closeup4

I have used various Lindy’s Stamp Gang Starburst Stain Sprays including Delphinium Turquoise Blue, Tiffany Lou Blue, Yellow Rose of Texas, California Poppy Gold & Hag’s Wart Orange. These Lindy’s Sprays have been splattered over my background as well as being used to colour my Pink Paislee Artisan Elements Stars.

There are still 2 days left to get in your entries for both these challenges so go enter today!

Prima May BAP & Scrapbooking from Scratch May Quote Challenge

If you are here for my giveaway, click here. Only 1 more days to enter!

Hi everyone! I am back to share another quick layout with you all today that I have based on this month’s Prima Marketing BAP Challenge and I have also incorporated the Scrapbooking From Scratch May Quote Challenge  also. Click here to view the Prima May Challenge Blog Post and click here to visit the Scrapbooking From Scratch Gallery to see all this month’s challenges.

Here is the Prima BAP Sketch for the month of May and the Quote over at SFS is “Girlfriends are the sisters we pick out for ourselves”

So here is my take on the sketch and the quote. I actually mucked up the quote a little whoops but it still works. I have used the fabulous Prima Marketing Firefly Collection papers.

tn_The3AmigosByAmyPrior

To add more texture to the background, I have added some Gesso using the Prima Donna Downey Random Dots Stencil and I smudged it a little so I decided to scrape the circles down the page to add a more smeared effect. There is never any mistakes in art LOL. When this was dry, I have dripped some Chalkboard Mists & Lindys Stamp Gang Mists down the page and then stamped some random areas with a Tim Holtz Texture Stamp using some Turquoise Perfect Pearls Powder.

tn_The3AmigosByAmyPrior2

I have used a bunch of Prima Shabby Resin, Flowers, Bling & Alpha for this layout as well as some Prima Donna Downey Canvas Script Flags that I have sprayed with some Chalkboard mists.

tn_The3AmigosByAmyPrior4

I have then added some Gesso to the edges of the Flags, and threaded through some Twine to add the banner over my layout.  I then grabbed some American Crafts Thickers to spell out Amigos and stuck them down to my Ranger Craft Sheet so I could easily sand them back a tad before adhering to my flags using some Ranger Glossy Accents.

tn_The3AmigosByAmyPrior5

I just love how this layout has turned out. Some random smearing of Gesso onto some of the Prima Alpha and a Pink Paislee Mistable Arrow added then my layout was complete. As you can see I have twisted and added to the original sketch a little (the banner was added) .

My adhesives by choice are always Helmar including Scrap Dots, 450 Glue & others.

Well that is it from me today, thanks so much for reading and until next time, happy scrapping!

Once Upon A Sketch April

If you are here for my giveaway, click here for more info!

Hi everybody! So glad to have you all here reading along with my artsy journey. It is so good to be back sharing my passion with you all.

Today I have a layout to share that was based on the April sketch on the Once Upon A Sketch Blog. Unfortunately my entry was too late but wanted to share anyway 🙂

Here is the sketch that Nadia has designed this month…

Here is my take on the sketch. I have used the gorgeous papers from Maja Design Vintage Summer Basics Line.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior

To create the background, I have layered random snippets of my 6×6 Crafters Workshop Brick Stencil using a thick amount of Metallic Viva Acrylic Paint and a Palette Knife. Once this was dry, I have added some Champagne Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam over the top roughly to create a more vintage tone.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior2

The paper pieces have been distressed using the Ingvild Blome Prima Distress Tool and then inked using Tim Holtz Brushed Corduroy Distress Ink.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior3

The fabulous A2Z Scraplets Chipboard Chicken Wire was cut to varying sizes to suit my layout and then painted with Viva Metallic Paint Mother of Pearl. The Title, which is also from A2Z, has been sprayed using Lindys Stampgang Moonshadow Starburst Stain Sprays. I just love these sprays because you get a variation of 2 different colour inks along with 2 different colour glimmers. The effect is truly incredible! I have added some little bits of Gesso with my finger on the top to shabby it up a little.

Can'tLiveWithoutMyGirlsByAmyPrior4

Majority of the gorgeous flowers are from Handmade Halo as well as all of the pretty little charms and the trim. I have added a small amount of gesso to the tips of the flowers to give them a more shabby feel and the charms have a small amount of Gesso plus Champagne Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam.

Be sure to head on over to the Handmade Halo website here and the A2Z Scraplets website here, to grab yourself some pretties. Don’t forget that A2Z Scraplets can also custom make anything you like, just click the custom order link on the website.

Well that’s it for now, until next time, happy scrapping!
